Introduction

Let’s make a trivial version of Codegen!

In this project, we will build a service that takes in:

• A public Github repo
• A code “prompt,” e.g. “convert it to Typescript”

And returns the diff that accomplishes this task.

This is effectively a toy version of the core technology powering Codegen’s services and we will build it on a similar stack.

Project Spec

Make a FastAPI API that:

• Takes in two inputs via a POST request:
  • repoUrl: the URL of a public repo on Github
  • prompt: a textual command
• It then returns a unified diff (as a string) representing the changes to be made
• As one of the steps, you should run “reflection”:
  • Basically, ask GPT if it’s sure, or if it would like to correct its answer
  • If it wants to correct it, have it generate a new one!
• This API should be live on the web!

(You don’t need to get fancy with the underlying algorithm/prompting and can assume relatively trivial/small repos, although we will probably ask you about how you could make it more comprehensive!)

Bonus:

• Store all inputs/outputs in a Supabase DB
